A Message from the President

Spring 2012

It’s hard to believe we are only a few short months away from the 2012 Assembly Day!  We are really looking forward to our 2012 program, which will be about the Civil War, and are even more excited that we are able to extend the program to include a Friday Civil War encampment which will be open to students only.

This Assembly topic is an opportunity for all of us to learn about how the Civil War affected Ellis County.  Our Program Committee, headed by George Susat, Chairman, and George Cole, Co-Chair, has been busy for several months now putting together what will be an informative and exciting presentation you won’t want to miss!  It is filled with speakers, exhibitors, reenactments and even Civil War military brass bands – truly something for everyone!

As part of our annual newsletter, we not only provide information on the upcoming Assembly Day program and events, but also provide an opportunity for you to submit your membership for 2012.  Please take a moment to complete the membership form included in the newsletter and submit your completed form, along with your membership dues at whatever level you decide, to the address shown on the form.  We need your continued support and involvement to keep the Chautauqua movement alive!  Also, please consider volunteering to be a Board member – we are actively recruiting new members and would welcome your talents and input.
